Tips on using metal mordants for plant dyeing

Iron is my favorite mordant to work with and dark colors are my favorite ones to make. I’m thinking about ditching aluminium mordant once and for all - while it’s safe for the end user, I still don’t enjoy having it in my process. But then the question arise, if you would still like my bags even if I would offer darker earthy colors only, no yellows, no pinks, just browns, moss greens and greys? I guess there’s no way to find out other than try. At some point.

Fellow dyers, how do you navigate the mordants dilemma? And dear customers, is the color the only thing that counts in the end?
