Organic Indigo Workshop

  • Kaliko / Allerstr11 11 Allerstraße Berlin, Berlin, 12049 Germany (map)

If you want to learn how to unlock the power of botanical blue, this two-day workshop is for you.

Indigo is one of the oldest plant pigments known to humans. No wonder this color was worth more than gold just a few centuries ago. Indigo can not only produce stunning shades of blue. The process of extracting it is unlike any other plant-obtained pigment so indigo masters were considered former superstars. Indigo has its own ways and in this workshop, we will learn how to make the best of its powers, using organic ingredients only.

If you are interested in how to make non-toxic, organic vats and apply the pigment to the fabric, join us in our beautiful studio Allerstr11.

This workshop is divided into two parts and it's taking place on Thursday and Saturday.
We will start with a short lecture, to get an understanding of what indigo is. Later that evening, we will prepare three organic vats using different techniques. We will proceed with dyeing the fabric on Saturday and you will leave with samples to take home with you. We will work with natural plant extracts, no toxic substances will be used in our workshop.
