Plant dye bar / Eucalyptus Extravaganza

  • Kaliko 11 Allerstraße Berlin, Berlin, 12049 Germany (map)

This July we are starting our new periodical event - Plant Dye Bar.

Old t-shirts, underwear, socks that suck? Come over, throw your old pieces into our magic cauldron and see what plants can do. We are happy to help you recycle the clothes you don't love anymore. Play with our rubber bands for a cheeky tie-dye effect or go for a plain and natural color to ease your soul. The brew is ours but the choice is yours!
We will be there the whole day to answer your burning dyeing-related questions and seed the love for plant dyes in you :)

*What's this month's dye?
In July we are making a gorgeous soft grey with eucalyptus leaves and iron water. This dye is all natural, non-toxic and it even helps you boost your health. Iron is an essential mineral we need to transport oxygen throughout the body.

* How does it work?
Every few weeks we are going to brew a dye for you, using plants only. Come over and dye your old clothes or lengths of fabric you'd like to use for your creative projects.

* What fibers can you dye?
Every natural white fiber would do! 100% wool, cotton, linen or silk will dye well. Synthetic fabrics won't take up natural dye well so we can't accept those. Only white or undyed clothes can be dyed with plants, overdyeing synthetic colors won't work.

* How much does it cost?
We charge a small fee of 2e for every 50g of fibers. A maximum of 300g of fibers can be accepted from one person.

*How long does it take?
The dyeing process takes around 60 minutes. You can either take wet pieces home with you or leave your fibers at our studio to dry and pick them up the following week. We are open Wednesday through Saturday.

*How to kill 60 minutes in Schillerkiez?
There are just too many options to list but our recommendation would be to grab an amazing lunch at GORDON, just next door!

*When and were?
Saturday, July 28th at Allerstr. 11, Neukölln
We are open 12.00-19.00
